Super Bowl Answers

So, the Super Bowl didn't go as I had hoped, but I have to give credit to the Saints, they played an excellent game. At least a former Alabama player, Roman Harper, got himself a Super Bowl championship since he never won a BCS Championship.

Well, without further ado, here are the answers to the questions from yesterday.

1. In 1998, John Elway and the Denver Broncos defeated the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl.

2. The Cowboys, the 49ers, and the Steelers are the 3 teams who have won at least 5 Super Bowls.

3. In 1969, Joe Namath, guaranteed victory in the Super Bowl and delivered by leading the Jets to an upset victory over the Colts.

4. The Washington Redskins have won the Super Bowl 3 times, in 1983, 1988, and 1992.

5. In 2001, the Baltimore Raven's middle linebacker Ray Lewis was named MVP of Super Bowl XXXV.

6. Backing his team in 1999, Atlanta's mayor put up peanuts and a case of coke in a bet.

7. The Buffalo Bills lost 4 straight Super Bowls.

8. Mike Jones, whose tackle saved the Super Bowl for the St. Louis Rams in 2000, was released in 2001.

9. Super Bowl XXXVIII was in 2004, Super Bowl I was in 1967.

10. The only city to have a Super Bowl champion and Stanley Cup champion in the same year was Pittsburgh in 2009.

The Super Bowl

Since today is the day of the big game, I thought I would post some trivia questions about the Super Bowl. The questions (or answers I should say) come courtesy of Jeopardy and the website J! Sweet Potatoes

February is National Sweet Potato month. In honor of that, I thought I would tell some interesting facts about this wonderful vegetable.

  • North Carolina is the #1 producer of sweet potatoes in the country, producing almost 700 million pounds of sweet potatoes in 2007.
  • Sweet potatoes were grown in Peru as early as 750 BC.
  • George Washington Carver is known for his peanut inventions, but he also came up with 118 different products using sweet potatoes.
  • During World War I when wheat flour was running low, sweet potato flour was used to stretch supplies of wheat flour in baked goods.
  • They are delicious!
