Oil Crisis

I am fascinated by how many people are really complaining about the cost of a gallon of gas. Yes, gas prices are absurd and yes, the oil companies are greedy and yes, their excuses for why the gas prices are going up are lame. But honestly, I hear people complaining that they just don't have enough money to pay for the increased price of gas, and I don't think they are trying hard enough.

One guy at my work complains about the gas prices and then goes out for lunch EVERY day! We're talking about using gas to drive to and from where he goes to eat and then probably $4 or $5 to eat. How is he complaining if he's just going to turn around and waste?

Stop driving so much! If I could bike to work, I would. I honestly am close enough that I could feasibly do it, but I don't have a bike. I am already in talks with some people here at work though to start carpooling, so that's a start. Hopefully if we get that going it will make other people aware.

But this is like the current drought situation here in North Carolina. People get all up in arms and do what they can to conserve...then when the threat is calmed down, go right back to wasting. That shouldn't be how it is! It's a precious resource, we should always conserve on GAS and WATER.

I'm going to take up for the Oil Companies. They receive approximately 4% of the money that comes from the sale of 1 gallon of gasoline. Congress (our great leaders in Washington) receives 15%. This 15% covers the cost of gas, transportation needs, and free cars (that's right, I said FREE) for our wonderfully elected representatives. Oh yeah and by the way, there would not have been such a big stink about gas prices if our Congress would have done something like suspend gas taxes back when oil was $100 a barrel. But they did nothing. Then it went to $110 and Congress said "Let's see what happens", then $120 and Congress twidled their thumbs, then $130, and now its nearing $140. The Republican Party has to stand to their feet and change some things; they need to state that they are the Party of energy independence. Back in the 1990s Bill Clinton vetoed a bill that would have allowed United States corporations to explore, dig, and extract oil from the coasts of the continental United States, Hawaii, and Alaska. It is estimated that would could be drilling up to 5 millions barrals of gasoline a day (which is how many barrels Americans use in 3 days). This oil would last for "at least" (that means at the minimum) 30 years; and I'm just talking about ANWR. And just recently China has been drilling just 60 miles off the coast of Florida for oil. Cuba and Venezuela are making major $$$ off this drilling. What in the world is going on? Step it up Congress. At least General Motors is stepping it up and creating Flex Fuel and Hybrid products that are safe for the environment and energy independent. Oh yeah, the leftist media thrives by playing on the fears of Americans. That's how they steal their hearts. Ahhh...this should have been a video response.
