The Understudy (Ep. 624)

Jerry and George are accused of personally injuring Bette Midler during a softball game so that she wouldn't be able to perform in the play Rochelle, Rochelle, and Jerry's girlfriend would get the part.  Kramer becomes Bette's assistant.  Elaine uses Frank to translate Korean because she suspects the lady who does her nails is talking bad about her.  It turns out that Frank had a relationship with the woman who owns the nail salon and rekindles it until he makes a move on her.  Also, Elaine meets J. Peterman and gets a job working at his magazine.

Interesting fact: This episode is the only time that Jerry talks directly to the camera.

Interesting quote: "Caught that, what is it, Beaches, on cable last night.  "Wind Beneath My Wings," huh?  Give me a break." - George, talking trash on the softball field to Bette Midler

Grade: B (Kramer's fascination with Bette Midler is...well, fascinating.)
