10,000 years will give you such a crick in the neck!

So, I've got this pretty irritating pain in my neck that doesn't seem to go away.  It's like my neck just catches every so often and I can't move it to one side.  Most of the time it goes away within a matter of minutes, but twice now in the last week it's lasted for an extended period of time.  If anybody knows of any way to get it to go away without going to the doctor, I would love to know.
