The Non-Fat Yogurt (Ep. 507)

The group loves the non-fat frozen yogurt at a new shop in town, but begin to worry it's not as healthy as claimed when they start gaining weight.  While at the shop, George spots his childhood nemesis Lloyd Braun who is working for current mayor David Dinkins.  Lloyd spots Elaine and is attracted to her and eventually takes her on a date, but breaks up with her after realizing she's got some extra weight.

Jerry and Elaine get a sample of the yogurt tested at a lab and discover that it does in fact have fat in it.  This causes a controversy in the city and after mayoral candidate Rudy Guiliani has a higher than normal cholesterol results, Jerry calls their office to inform them of the issue.  Guiliani's stand against the yogurt store along with a bad suggestion by Elaine to Mayor Dinkins, gets Guiliani elected as New York City mayor.

Interesting fact: Had Dinkins been reelected in NYC, the character Jackie Childs may not have existed as actor Phillip Morris was set to play Dinkins' advisor on the show.

Interesting quote: "One of my campaign themes would be that everybody should wear nametags to make the city friendlier." - Elaine's campaign idea that Lloyd Braun gave to Mayor Dinkins

Grade: D (This was about as good as non-fat frozen yogurt)
