The Old Man (Ep. 418)

Elaine volunteers to work with an organization aiding the elderly and it intrigues George who decides he has no purpose in life. Jerry is not interesting, but gets talked into by Elaine who said if anyone needs to do this it's him. Basically what they are doing is just spending time with an elderly person to brighten their day. Jerry gets a crabby old man who doesn't want him around. Elaine gets a lady with a goiter the size of a football and it's very distracting to her. George gets a man who has an optimistic outlook on life, but after hearing George be pesimistic he ditches him.

While at the guy's apartment Jerry does notice that he's throwing out a ton of old records and asks if Kramer and Newman can have them. He says yes, but when they come to pick them up the old man gets irritated with them and starts fighting with Newman. In the process he loses his dentures and they go flying across the room, landing in the sink. George thinking he's cutting on the light, cuts on the garbage disposal instead, destroying the dentures. They all run out to get a cab to take the man to the dentist, but lose the man in the process. A massive search doesn't turn the guy up and his son gets mad with Jerry for losing him and also taking his old record collection.

Interesting quote: "Because the mail never stops. It just keeps coming and coming and coming. Never a letup. It's relentless!" - Newman on why mailmen go postal

Grade: C- (A couple of funny moments, but very un-Seinfeld like)
