Ichiro

If you don't know who or what Ichiro is, then don't bother reading any further.  If you do know who he is, then prepared to be more impressed by him than you already are.  Last night, Ichiro went 3-3 (that's 3 hits in 3 at bats) to get his 200th hit of the season.  In doing so he joined Wee Willie Keeler (if you don't know who he is, it's alright) as the only players to get 200+ hits in 8 consecutive seasons.  Mr. Keeler did his back in 94-01...1901 that is.  What's more impressive is that Ichiro has only played in 8 seasons altogether.

He now has 1792 hits in his Major League career tying him with Ernie Lombardi at 353rd on the all-time hits list.  That's not really all that impressive, except for the fact that Ernie Lombardi played 17 seasons!  Ichiro likely won't catch Pete Rose or Ty Cobb because he didn't start playing in the Majors until he was 27, but he really should be considered up there with the two.  Ty Cobb had 1453 hits between ages 27 and 34, Pete Rose had 1648, Ichiro Suzuki had 1792!!  That is astounding.  These are just numbers, if you ever cut on the television and the Seattle Mariners are playing, please watch Ichiro.  He plays so gracefully and with so much energy, it really is a joy to watch.

Ty Cobb Jr. is running for Congress this year. Jade and I saw his name on this years ballots and were like, "Whoa!" Here is his website

http://www.tycobbforcongress.com/

Check it out! It's funny though, in his biography he writes of being born to Tyrus Raymond Cobb, "THE TY COBB" but doesn't list anything about him being "THE TY COBB." Really weird.
